History of The Orchid Post: About Me

The Orchid Post was the title of my blog several years ago. Started as a hobby to encourage women in the areas of femininity and health it has morphed over the years into a general lifestyle blog. However, many of my passions and interests remain the same.

But now that you’re here let me tell you a little bit about myself. I got married at 21, became a mom at 23 and my husband has been a pastor for about 5 years now. I also started homeschooling our kids. If you were to ask me 10 years ago where I thought I’d be now I would have never guessed I’d have 3 kids (let alone be homeschooling them) and that my husband would become a pastor before turning 30. I was supposed to maybe just be having my first baby now and have at least 5 years of experience under my belt in a successful job using the degree I spent so much money on. But… as maybe you know for yourself, God makes the plans for our lives, not us. It took awhile for me to adjust to God’s plan for my life but I can say with confidence now I am loving my life, even when it means mountains of laundry and dirty dishes and all the poop (can’t believe I just said that).

I have a degree in Psychology with an interest in helping women through postpartum mental health issues and would love to be a postpartum doula someday. My husband is an Associate Pastor of a small town church in Southeastern Minnesota, if you want to check out his musings you can go visit his blog too.

More recently though I’ve felt the nudge to pursue my childhood dreams in the creative arts. I’ve dabbled in furniture flipping and blogging but I’m working on some other creative projects and you’ll get to hear all about those in this blog too.

So in this motherhood, homeschool, lifestyle and creative pursuits blog I promise to you to always be authentic. I don’t want to hide behind a filter and pretend like things are better than they are. I want to engage with you, keep it real, always look ahead as I chronicle the past, and create content for a wide audience that can help us feel and think more clearly about truth.
