The First Day of Classical Conversations!

We are still fairly new to Classical Conversations as this is only our second year participating. I now have two of my kids in classes with my youngest still in the nursery.

We are in the Foundations program. Foundations is built for children from preschool to 6th grade. Essentials is for kids from 4th to 6th grade. They meet in the afternoon once our Foundations morning is done.

Classical Conversations is a homeschooling community that meets once a week for class time. It is built on a classical model of education. In the Foundations program children basically memorize a select list of information. The classical model takes advantage of the developmental stages that children are at and caters the education to fit those stages of learning and development.

So, since children under age 12 have a fantastic ability to absorb information and memorize things that’s what happens.

Here is a helpful video that explains the Foundations program.

I want to write more blog posts about “CC” as we nickname it. But for now I will leave you with a video of our first day at CC this year and 3 things I love about it.

  1. I love Classical Conversations because of the classical model of education. The classical method just makes sense to me and I enjoy it as an adult too!
  2. I love Classical Conversations for the community. We get to go to community once each week and my kids still get a school type environment and a class of children that they get to interact and learn with. I also get to know other homeschooling families and parents who also love a classical model of education.
  3. I love the songs and the curriculum. Even though sometimes the songs feel too high and they do get old listening to after a while, I love that my kids (and myself too) are learning important facts that will stick in their brain for their whole life! And let’s be honest: my kids LOVE the songs! The curriculum is Christian based and starts at the beginning of creation and goes all the way to the present day!

Please click through to my youtube channel and hit the subscribe button! I have another video coming your way this time next week and I don’t want you to miss it. 😉 It’s a video I’m a little embarrassed to share but hope we can laugh about it together, so make sure you subscribe.

Happy Friday!
